Community Involvement
Sussex Development believes in supporting our community. In particular Sussex supports youths programs, such as swim teams and the First Colonial High School Marketing Support Program. Every spring and fall our employees team together with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads for a weekend to perform repairs and erect new structures at their camp facilities. Through our affiliations with the Association of General Contractors and the National Association of Women in Construction, we contribute to scholarship programs for college-bound students pursuing careers in construction, Camp Pendelton Block Kids and Girl Scouts Build-UP! programs. In 2009-2010 Sussex Development volunteered its time and resources to the erection of a new administrative building for Equi-Kids Therapeutic Riding Program, and completion of the barn and riding facility.
Additionally, Sussex and its employees are proud supporters of our Armed Forces. We have provided direct support to the USO, sent holiday packages to soldiers at Walter Reed, participated in the "Adopt-a-Soldier" program, contributed to food drives benefiting military families, and donated to "Cell Phones for Soldiers," a program that provides calling cards to soldiers serving overseas.
